Big charity garage sale

Haig Avenue garage sale 2012

If you’re doing some spring cleaning and looking to donate your stuff to a worthy cause — look no further!

Residents of Haig Avenue are seeking donations for a huge garage sale to raise money for the Red Door Family Shelter and the Scarborough Women’s Centre.

Organizer Caroline Ilaqua says last year their sale raised more than $1,200 and they donated 100% of the profits to charity.

This year, their target is $1,500.

Can you help out?

Ilaqua says they’re looking for gently used items of all kinds – housewares, toys, electronics, clothing, garden equipment, tools, sports equipment, furniture, etc.

You can drop off your donation, but they’ll also make arrangements to pick it up if you call 416-690-2181.

They’re also seeking donations for a bake table and raffle. Last year they raffled off a bicycle.

Sale on May 11th

The sale, on Saturday May 11th, will be based at 15 Haig Avenue but is expected to spill over to several other houses on the street.

Local merchants who are interested in sponsoring or donating will be recognized in advertising and promotion and at the sale, according to Ilaqua.

For those who would prefer to donate cash, Ilaqua says they can provide a receipt for income tax purposes for donations $20 and over.

See you on May 11th!
