East end power outages

This report will be updated as the night progresses if events warrant.

It’s still early going, but Birch Cliff appears to have dodged a bullet so far tonight when it comes to power outages.

According to this map from Toronto Hydro, the power is out west of Victoria Park in the Beach as well as east of Midland Avenue.

Birch Cliff and Cliffside are in the middle, apparently unaffected.  If you hear of anything, please let us know.

CP24 has a report on a tree that has fallen on a car in the Beach on Lyall Avenue, in the Main and Kingston Road area.  (Unfortunately, the anchor tells the reporter she has “hit the jackpot”.)

The traffic lights are down at the intersection of Victoria Park and Gerrard and drivers are reminded to treat all such intersections as four-way stops.

Sadly, a woman died tonight in the St. Clair / Keele Street area after she was hit by an airborne Staples store sign that broke off in high winds.

Police are advising people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel in the GTA.
