Kayleigh Callaghan-Belanger

Her name was Kayleigh Callaghan-Belanger.  She was five-years old.  And she was beautiful.

Flowers, candles and teddy bears in honour of Kayleigh now line the corner of Cliffside Dr. and East Haven Rd. where she died yesterday in a tragic accident.

She was crossing the street with three other children when she was struck and killed by a garbage truck. Two other children were sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Kayleigh was a kindergarden student at Cliffside Public School.  Her classmates and friends have joined her family in creating a makeshift memorial fitting for a little girl whose life was sadly cut short.

This is one of those times when pictures seem more appropriate than words.

A funeral service for Kayleigh will be held Wed. at 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 131 Birchmount Rd.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5pm – 9pm at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd.

The older I get…the less I understand. Such a beautiful little girl taken…..and yet…I encounter people who cheat death everyday. Heart goes out to her family. Hug your children. Say ..what you need to say today.
