Local EQAO results

The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) has published its annual Student Achievement Results for every elementary school in Ontario.

If you’re interested in the local statistics, you can see the results below for all five elementary schools in the Birch Cliff News coverage area:  Birch Cliff PS, Birch Cliff Heights PS, Blantyre PS, Courcelette PS and Immaculate Heart of Mary PS.

The province-wide standardized tests were introduced in 1990.

While some people view EQAO results as a valuable tool to improve the curriculum at individual schools, they are also quite controversial.

Critics question the value and the cost of the tests, and have also raised concerns about “teaching to the test” and possible manipulation by individual teachers and schools.

Nonetheless, the numbers are the numbers, and here they are.  You can click on each graphic to enlarge.  You can also look up the full individual school results, broken down by demographics, gender etc. here.
