Lots of weekend fun!

Variety Village Walk, Run and Roll fundraiser

From Variety Village’s Walk, Run and Roll, to the Courcelette Public School Fall Fest, to a Halloween Dance at the Legion – there’s a lot to do this weekend in Birch Cliff!

On Sunday October 28, Variety Village is hosting its sixth annual Walk, Run and Roll fundraiser in the hopes of raising $50,000 for programs and services for people with disabilities.

Starting at 9am, participants will walk, run or wheel their way along a five kilometre route through the streets of Birch Cliff.

From 11am – 2pm, Variety Village will be hosting a Halloween-themed Fun Fair with children’s activities, a pumpkin patch, costume parade, pie-baking contest and vendors and crafters market.

Courcelette PS Fall Fest

On Saturday October 27 from 11am – 3pm, Courcelette Public School is hosting its annual Fall Fest.  There’s lots for the kids to do here as well, including a bouncy castle, giant slide and obstacle course.

There’s also mini-putt, a pumpkin carving contest and a cake decorating contest.

Halloween Costume Party at the Legion

On Saturday night there’s a Halloween Costume Party at the Legion to support four local moms who are teaming up to participate in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, benefiting the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Louise Abbott, Renee Patterson, Michelle Abbott and Christina Kauffman are the “Spokes Women” and hope to raise $10,000 for the Enbridge Ride, which is a cycling journey through the Ontario countryside next summer.

There will be a live band at the Legion, dancing, costume prizes and a door prize donated by Toronto jewellery designer (and Birch Cliff mom!) Shelly Purdy. Another Birch Cliff entrepreneur Janine Morrison has donated throw pillows from her business Tonic Living.

The party kicks off at 7:00pm at Legion Hall #13, Kingston Road and Kildonan.  Tickets are $25 at the door.
