Photo of the Day Aug. 17 2012

The Photo of the Day for August 17, 2012 was taken on Kingston Road east of Warden in 1954.

It seemed appropriate given yesterday’s post about D.O.T. Furniture closing down to make way for a dollar store.

In the comments section, Carroll Lefebvre talks about growing up in Birch Cliff at a time when the Kingston Road strip was vibrant:  “We never shopped anywhere else for anything at anytime of the year…including Christmas!”

The photo came from the Vintage Toronto facebook page and is credited to Leonard Poole.

That photo depicts what I was saying yesterday about Loblaws and that neighbourhood. No reason why it can’t be restored! What a neat little place to visit if it was…just like Queen Street area (beaches). Someone should start lobbying!!! Sorry…it’s a long commute for me…I live in B.C.

A lot of people are working on it Carroll! Solutions aren’t easy I’m afraid.
