The first ever Scarborough Bluffs Pumpkin Parade is taking place on Wed. Nov. 1 at 7pm at Sandown Park in Cliffside.

Pumpkin Parade“Give your jack o’lantern a second chance to shine while admiring your neighbour’s as well,” reads the invitation that’s being circulated on Facebook.

Hector Catre, the Pumpkin Parade organizer, said people should bring their pumpkins to Sandown Park on the day after Halloween, starting at 7pm.

Presuming enough people bring their pumpkins, it should make quite a show for young and old alike.

Catre came up with the idea in September and quickly received sponsorship for the event from Ward 36 Councillor Gary Crawford and Scarborough Southwest MP Bill Blair.

The first pumpkin parade in Toronto was launched in Sorauren Park in the Parkdale/Roncessvales area in 2004 and there are now about 40 parades all over Toronto.
