Quarry Clean-up April 26 – 10am – noon

Attention all Quarry lovers and especially those who enjoy a good walk in the park with their dogs.

A Quarry clean-up has been organized for this Saturday, Earth Day, by a small business in the Beach called “Eco-Dogs (our pawprint is green)”.

Saturday, April 26, 10am – noon.  Meet in the parking lot behind Play it Again Sports at Gerrard, just east of Victoria Park.

Gloves, garbage bags and recycling bags will be supplied.

Jane’s Walk May 3 – 2pm

Jane’s Walks are held annually in 85 cities to celebrate the legacy of Toronto’s Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), an activist and author who had a community-focused approach to urban planning.

To participate in Southwest Scarborough’s Jane’s Walk – meet at the northwest corner of Midland and Kingston Rd. at 2pm on Saturday May 3rd.

A Stroll Along the Shore: from First Peoples to the Arts and Crafts Suburbs

Author Jane Fairburn joins Karin Eaton and Marie Belanger on a walk inspired by her book “Along the Shore: Rediscovering Toronto’s Waterfront Heritage”. Engaging stories covering Aboriginal, French and British settlements will abound as we walk the upper bluffs and up the Cinders Path.  The rich arts and crafts history of Chine Drive, historic murals and a special performance of Scarborough poet Sandy Glendinning’s “Away Wi’ Scarboro’s Muddy Creeks” highlight this rich and special walk.  Six stops are highlighted; there are more to experience on the route.
