The clear skies and a light breeze were perfect kite-flying weather and a blessing to the school community of Immaculate Heart of Mary who had their annual school fair this past Thursday, May 30th.

This year’s theme “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” was based on an initiative through “Kites in the Classroom”, where all the students at IHMS received a paper kite to decorate with their teacher and classmates prior to the fair.

On the night of the fair, students and their families had great fun flying their kites and watching them soar in the spring breeze.

There were many more activities to be enjoyed such as a bouncy castle, balloon artist, and games. Families feasted on a delicious BBQ, ice cream, slushies, cotton candy, and a bake table.

Most of the adults could be found inspecting the prizes that were up for grabs at the raffle.

Families were thrilled to win premium seats to see the Blue Jays, a signed Leafs Jersey, a complete birthday party package for DeSantos Martial Arts school, a wine and cheese basket, a craft beer and bbq basket and a community gift basket with gift cards to the Birchcliff Coffee Bar, Just for Fun, Andrews Pub,  BBNC, and LMJ music.

The kids were entertained by guessing the number of toys, pencils, marbles and other objects inside the guessing jars, as well as watching some amazing martial art skills performed by students of DeSantos Martial Arts School.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic school appreciates all the support from the parents and the local community in making our annual school fair such a successful one.
