Scarborough subway not dead

City Council will be asked tomorrow to begin a study that could designate two projects as transit priorities for Toronto:  the extension of the Bloor -Danforth subway into Scarborough (replacing the Scarborough RT), and a new waterfront LRT line for the Pan-Am Games.

TTC Chair Karen Stinz will ask Council to study the new OneCity transit plan, which includes both priorities, but is delaying her proposal for a 30-year property tax hike to pay for the plan.

It’s pretty tough to follow the bouncing ball when it comes to the never-ending transit debate in this city.

It’s clear however, that the Scarborough subway issue is not dead yet.

That’s despite the defeat in March of Mayor Rob Ford’s vision for a subway into Scarborough along Sheppard.
